hi im astyr and i post stuff - current interests: mystery skulls, sonic, achievement hunter, avas demon, bnha, probably some other stuff i cant think of right now - check my about page for other stuff
the other night i tried to make a curry and i got chilli burns all over my face, so i thought to myself ‘hang on, doesn’t milk soothe chilli burns? it does’ and i couldn’t google because i couldn’t see so i just had to blindly feel my way to the fridge and pour out a bowl of milk, and then plant my face in the bowl of milk, anyway at that point the rice cooker went off and triggered a power surge which turned my electricity off, which i didn’t notice at first because i had my face in a bowl of milk and when i did emerge from the dairy prison i thought i had gone blind with chilli burns. so no i don’t really cook much.
so I’ve deleted that compilation post of winged anthros that Exodrake reblogged the other day b/c 1) I prefer to reblog directly from the artist rather than just reblogging compilations like that, and 2) I’ll be frank here, some of those refs were JUST hot garbage, and I hate reblogging hot garbage refs here even if they’re grouped w/ some rly good refs as well. also, this here is an updated version of what was included in that compilation (but if u want to see the older version that was linked in that compilation post, here it is)
I’m rly diggin the HELL out of the musculature here, the way it spans the whole chest/back is rly a breath of fresh air in realistic winged anthro designs. I think my one complaint is that the skeletal structure for the wing shoulders seems to impede on where I’d imagine the arm shoulder structures rest, tho it’s hard to tell. I think this is actually where the older ref does a better job, b/c the arm shoulders were set distinctly lower on the chest, to give the wing shoulders more room. I also think a position that tilts the body forward would lend better to ease of flight, tho the body may have just been drawn upright here for easier anatomical planning
either way, if u guys RLY wanna slot the wing shoulders above the arm shoulders in ur anthro/bipedal designs, this is another good reference right alongside this reinterpretation of a Pegasus!
the one other ref I liked in that compilation was this one (not reblogged b/c I don’t think she has a Tumblr..). I rly like the spinal arrangement (esp in the neck) and crouched posture of the body, tho I have some problems w/ the shared shoulder arrangement…
anyways, sorry Exodrake, I just had to get those other refs off this blog, they were bothering the HELL outta me. and for posterity, I’ll paste what Exodrake had to say abt the good refs below

I’m…honestly stunned.
For those of you who want to make winged humanoids/anthros and are determined to attach the wings to the body in the “traditional” above the arm shoulders location, here’s some guides on how to make that look believable!
i didn’t know how much i needed andy samberg and seth meyers poking fun at john mulaneys speech pattern but now i don’t know how i lived without it (x)
